Sacrament windows on the right side of the church:
Window of Confirmation
The Sacrament of the Confirmation, through which the baptized receive the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit, is symbolized in the window which shows a dove, representing the Holy Spirit, and seven tongues of flame symbolizing the Gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and the Fear of the Lord.
Here at St. Justin Parish, young Catholics are prepared for Confirmation in Youth Ministry, and adults in the Rites of the Christian Initiation of Adults.
Window of Penance
The Sacrament of Penance, sometimes called confession or reconciliation, is symbolized in the window which shows the praying hands of a penitent with the cross of Christ in the background.
At St. Justins, confessions are heard on Saturday afternoons in the Penance Rooms in the Chapel or by appointment with a priest. A Penance Service with individual confessions, is held every Advent and every Lent. To see the windows located in the Penance rooms, click on the Penance Room section navigation link on the upper right of this web page.
Window of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism, instituted by Christ when he was baptized in the Jordan by St. John the Baptist, is symbolized in the window which depicts the Paschal Candle surrounded by flowing water.
Here at St. Justin Martyr Parish, the parents and godparents of children to be baptized are lovingly catechized and prepared for the sacrament. It is frequently celebrated in English, Spanish, or Vietnamese. The catechumens (unbaptized adults) are baptized at the Easter Vigil, the same liturgy in which the Paschal Candle is blessed and lighted.
